Life # 22 – Ray from the Sunshine Coast

Request: Donations

This month, we want to help a local family in need of some support.

Ray is a mechanic at one of the local colleges. His daughter, who was living in New Zealand was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer  and so his wife flew over to be with her during her treatment. While she was there, she too was diagnosed with breast cancer.

When they came back to Australia, Ray and his wife had to move out of their home during her treatment - they couldn't afford the payments while she wasn't working, so they rented out their house.

The family were then dealt another blow when Ray's daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer. She has a 14 year old son, and has had so much treatment that both of her arms are broken - she broke one opening a window and one turning on a light in the car. Ray has been paying her expenses for over a year, and he and his wife take it in turns to drive down to Brisbane to care for her.

Their current situation isn’t sustainable, and Ray is struggling. He has taken the tough decision that they may have to sell their home, but the house is in need of some work.

A local business has kindly offered to do some tiling for free, but the tiles will cost around $1500 - more than the family can afford.

This is very much a family who could do with some kindness. So, with your help, we want to cover the cost of their tiles.
