Life # 32 - A mum of 4 from Bourke

This month, as part of the Autopact 12 Lives project, the team at Western Plains Automotive in Dubbo would like to help a family going through a very tough time.

Lea-Anne is a mum of 4 and lives in Bourke. Just over a year ago, Lea-Anne was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer that affects just 1-2 people per million.

Lea-Anne was initially diagnosed with Adrenocortical carcinoma, which is a disease of the adrenal gland. But as it spread, they have had to remove Lea-Anne’s kidney, adrenal glad, and part of her bowel, pancreas, splean and diaphragm. The cancer has since returned, and is now in her abdomen and liver.  Lea-Anne has stopped chemotherapy now and is trialling a drug at a cancer centre in Sydney.

Lea-Anne’s husband, Neil, formerly worked as a plant foreman at the Shire Council but has retired early to help care for Leanne.

The financial strain on the family is immense. With limited income and expensive travel, day-to-day life has become much more difficult.

We would like to help make their life a little bit easier, so they can focus on the important things without having to worry about money so much.

What We Need

Donations - To help cover some of their living expenses and hopefully also send them on a family holiday. Your donation, big or small, will make a difference to this family's life. If you'd like to make a donation, please click the link below to let us know.
