This month, the team on the Sunshine Coast have been trying to help a single mum and her 6 year old son who, until recently, have been living in a tent.
The mum has complex medical issues and has undergone a hip replacement and is in need of a shoulder reconstruction. She also has severe asthma and, as a result of extended steroid use, now has Vascular Necrosis. 6 weeks ago, she fell down the stairs and broke her foot so hasn’t been able to work. Her debts are mounting, and her car has been repossessed.
Cricks heard about this family from Coast 2 Bay Housing, a local organisation that provides community and affordable housing to people in need.
The mum had been sleeping on a broken mattress, while her son slept on a heavily soiled foam mattress. Her son also needed an iPad for school, which she had no way of affording.
Not only did the team raise funds to help this family, they also enlisted the help of Domayne Bedding in Maroochydore. Matt, the proprieter, offered a phenomenal discount to assist them in getting the most for the money raised.
The Cricks team has just delivered a brand new queen sized mattress, and a single size mattress to the family, as well as a package of mattress protectors, pillows, sheets and quilts. They also provided a new iPad and some headphones for the young boy as well.
Thank you so much for everyone who made this happen. It has made such a big difference to this family.
